MAY?1, through your newspaper, thank the manager and staff of the new Tesco store for giving 18 members of Tavistock Carers Support Group an afternoon to remember last week.

We were given a tour all around the back of the store and shown where and how the food is stored and kept fresh and were then given a fabulous cream tea in the staff restaurant with lots of extra treats.

Heather, Stephen and Laura waited on us and made a great fuss of us.

As a carers group who try to support each other, we are not generally given these treats and certainly not for free. I know a lot of people myself included were not overly keen to have another superstore in Tavistock but I feel they should be given credit for working hard with local groups in the community whenever they are asked or, as in our case, asked what they can do to support us.

May I also say that if any of your readers are carers for family members or friends and would like to spend one afternoon a month with others in a similar situation we would be delighted to welcome them. They can phone me on 01822 618914 for more information.
