CADETS and staff from Tavistock?s 2312 Squadron Air Training Corps undertook a mini camp to North Devon recently to taste the experiences of the services with both the RAF and the Royal Marines.

A visit to 22 Sqn Search and Rescue saw the cadets given a brief on the SAR role of the RAF?s modern Sea King Helicopter MK3A and a flight around North Devon.

The following day the Marines gave an unforgettable experience in their landing craft and assault boats.

Fl Lt John Olver was assisted by CI Chris Weeks in the running of the camp. Both expressed thanks to the two services for hosting the event.

John said: ?We plan more mini camps to supplement our annual RAF station camp to give the cadets experiences which cannot be achieved outside the cadet structure.?

1321 Sqn meets on Tuesdays at the Cadet centre at Crelake at 4.45pm and is open to all youths from 13 years of age. They will be looking for new recruits in the near future so parents and potential cadets are welcome to visit at any time. The squadron?s next major event is a Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition to the Lake District in July.
