A COUPLE from Yelverton are celebrating, after managing to achieve a weight loss of just under 13 stone between them. The amount lost by Gavin and Mairead West is 12 stone and 12 and a half lb ? almost the weight of their Yelverton Slimming World consultant Jane Overnall. Gavin and Mairead joined the Yelverton group just over 20 months ago. Mairead was recently voted Yelverton Woman of the Year, and joined Vicky Piper and Jean Vousden from Tracy Horton?s Tavistock?s Slimming World group in the Devon and Cornwall District Woman of the Year finals. Mairead won the district finals and will now go head-to-head against 30 other districts for the national title on October 14 in Derbyshire. Jane said: ?The district finals were so inspirational ? 28 ladies with a cumulative weight loss of 163 stone, and I was over the moon when Mairead and Mandy Leavey from my Southway group won the district finals and will now represent Devon and Cornwall in the national finals.?
