ROBOROUGH Down, with its many varied habitats and natural beauty, continues — as it has done for so many years — to be the playground of Plymouth.

As the lambing season approaches, the perennial problem of irresponsible dog walkers will again be brought into sharp relief and be the blight of many commoners.

Despite the excellent work of Jane Cole (Local animal welfare officer) and Nick Wilkins (reeve) in educating dog walkers, the continuing cavalier attitude of some dog owners using Robrough beggars belief.

I implore the Dartmoor National Park and other responsible authorities to keep up the good work in elevating the profile of this important issue with the police.

The whole sad matter is damaging financially to farmers as well as to the good name of responsible owners who keep their dogs under control.
