Duchy League Cup Mary Tavy 2 Looe 1 ON paper this looked an easy route through to the next round for Tavy, but this was a cup match and the under dogs are always worth a side bet especially when the odds would have been very favourable. Looe currently topping League Four did more than just turn up as they gave Mary Tavy lying second in League One a run for their money. Tavy could have looked to blame the fact that they had several first choice players out including keeper Tony Rawlings but the truth of the fact was that Looe are in fact a very good footballing side. The first 20 minutes was dominated by Tavy but only the one goal came through James Philpott who slotted home from Craig Groombridge. It was comfortable from the home side at this stage but when Alec Taylor found himself 12 yards in front of goal with only the keeper to beat he made no mistake to tie the game. With the pitch fast turning into a quagmire Tavy eventually forced the decider with 15 minutes remaining through Paul Glidden. But the team had Shaun James to thank in the Tavy goal for two outstanding saves to ensure Tavy?s passage into the next round and secure himself the Man of the Match award.
