BURDON Grange Care Home celebrated the Ruby Run in style recently with their third ever 'Ruby Weekend'.
On Saturday, June 8, residents, staff, family and friends embarked on the home's special Ruby Ramble. The four-mile sponsored walk along the Ruby Trail started at the Highampton end of the trail, walking to Running Moor and back again.
The ramble was tailored to individual capabilities so that all residents aged 18 to 65 who live with either a physical disability or acquired brain injury could take part.
The following day, six members of the Burdon Grange team took back in the Ruby Run team relay event: Will Kivell, Hazel Gear, Emma Middleton, Emma Down, Jimmy Sowden and Shaun Knight.
Loudly supported by staff and residents, the team came second with an impressive time of under two hours, only failing to retain the title they won in 2012 due to the impress Bude RATS Running and Triathlon Group.
The proceeds raised by the Ruby Ramble will be divided equally between the Burdon Grange Resident's fund and the chemotherapy unit at North Devon District Hospital.
