THANKS to the unusual weather conditions earlier this year, RHS Garden Rosemoor's apple orchard is laden with fruit in time for the popular Apple Day. In this bumper year for apples, the event will be as packed with interest as the orchard is packed with fruit.

There will be apple displays from Rosemoor, RHS Garden Wisley, Paul Barnett Trees and Thornhayes Nurseries, which will help visitors to identify apple varieties they have in their own gardens.

If there is still doubt, apple experts will be on hand to assist as well as offering planting and cultivation advice.

Orchards Live will be present with its apple harvester to demonstrate how to take the backache out of apple collection and Westlake Farm will show how easy crushing apples can be with its portable cider mill.

In addition, there will be children's activities and trails, cookery demonstrations with recipe handouts, stalls selling apple juice and cider, and a whole bushel of other activities.
