MAY I, through your column, inform your readers that Mrs Sheila Allen, Poppy Appeal Organiser has been awarded a county Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of her efforts and dedication in raising money for the Poppy Appeal.
Each year she has taken three weeks holiday in order to arrange the distribution of poppies and wreaths to all local outlets, organise street collections, collect, count and bank the money donated and send the final amount to Headquarters.
Year on year she has — thanks to the generosity of local people — increased the amount collected. During the time she has been Poppy Appeal Organiser she has raised over £100,000.
The prestigious award she has received is richly deserved.
