THERE is much hope for Tavistock's Meadows in your report of August 1 on the allocation of community improvement funds from Tesco.

If those funds do materialise, the replacement of the refreshment kiosk by the footbridge deserves top priority. A proposal some years ago to demolish the present square architectural lump and not build anything better in its place was quashed by public protest.

Now there may be an opportunity to rectify an unsatisfactory situation and have a wooden structure in keeping with our central, well-tended public park and its varied, splendid trees.

Both the kiosk and the park enjoy a well-deserved popularity by young, middle-aged and elderly.
