WHEN they were busy vandalising Bedford Square, we were told that pedestrianising and preventing parking in the area in front of the town hall would 'enhance the town'.
On a visit to town on Friday I saw four cars, a pick-up truck and a lorry all parked with apparent impunity on the 'pedestrian area'.
How long, I wonder, will it be before the area is again used for parking, as a matter of course, but with the added advantage of being able to leave cars, buses etc on an extraordinarily expensive stone surface rather than the previous tarmac?
