THE Dartmoor Tinworking Research Group has recently been undertaking conservation work at Brimpts Farm at Dartmeet, where ten years ago the organisation was involved in setting up a trail that takes visitors around tinworkings in the area. Earlier this year, bracken, bramble and other obstructions were cleared in time for summer visitors. The mines extended on to the open moor, and attention has now turned to repairing a section of the Newtake wall between Huccaby Ring and Dunnabridge, where it formed a part of some mine buildings. The work has been carried out entirely by volunteers under the watchful eyes of Andy and Rick Bradford from the farm and Andy Crabb from English Heritage and the Dartmoor National Park Authority. More work will be carried out next year, and there are plans for a self-guided trail leaflet and interpretation boards at discreet sites.
