Tavistock Jets U12s 3

Stadiscombe U12s 5

JETS, starting without some regular players, introduced a new 4-4-2 formation in an attempt to strengthen attacking options. But Stadiscombe had arrived full of confidence and attacked strongly.

A penalty was conceded by Tavistock which allowed Stadiscombe to move into the lead.

After Jets' appeal for a penalty was unsuccessful Stadiscombe increased their lead after slack defending but Jets bounced back with a goal from Ashley Dobson following a good long ball from Robbie Court.

A third goal was conceded as a long shot somehow managed to beat everybody and go in off the post.

The new formation was proving successful and helped to create pressure as Jets fought back.

Their effort was rewarded as Ashley Dobson completed his hat-trick; the second after Stadiscombe failed to clear the ball and the third following a pass from Andrew Debyshire. It was unfortunate that a long range shot gave Stadiscombe the lead at half-time.

Shortly after the restart Stadiscombe increased their lead as they began to dominate midfield.

Tom Hammond came on as substitute and Jets' defence remained solid. Jets' strikers were more isolated in the second half yet the whole team had shown great character and never give up

Man of the match: Robbie Court. Manager's man of the match: Ashley Dobson.

Activate U14s 4

WITH temperatures barely above freezing Activate won the toss and chose to play with the strong wind that lashed the Bere Alston pitch.

Activate pumped high balls into the Jets' goal area forcing some good saves by Gray in goal from the start.

On 15 minutes a good passing move by Activate down the wing and a cross into the Jets' penalty area found an unmarked attacker who squeezed the ball under the diving Gray to break the deadlock.

During the half-time break the wind dropped, leaving Jets without the advantage enjoyed by Activate in the first half. Jets came out battling until against the run of play a speculative lob from Activate beat the keeper who was well off his line.

Even at 0-2 down there still was not much to choose between the two teams and Jets continued to battle for every ball with Chris Macintosh going close to getting Jets on the scoresheet on at least four occasions.

Unfortunately, with the ball not running for Jets, heads went down, especially in defence, who were missing injured central defender Phil Maddock, and it was inevitable Activate would score again.
