MAY I use your column to thank the lady who came to my rescue the other day.

I was in the Riverside car park desperately trying to change a fiver (being loath to pay by card after a previous experience), when this lady, not having change for a fiver, offered me the money to park all day. 'Merry Xmas', she said.

This was an extremely generous gesture made in the true spirit of Christmas and left me with a warm feeling for the rest of the day.

I promised her that I would do a good deed for someone else, so if I see someone in a similar situation in the future I will not hesitate to return the favour.
