TAVISTOCK students joined Cambridge University last week in a bid to inspire them to achieve their full potential.
Twenty-two 'Gifted and Talented' Year 10 students from Tavistock College went to Dowling College heard stories from undergraduates and participated in workshops.
The visit also included an overnight stay so students were given the chance to explore the campus and gain an insight into how to apply to Oxbridge.
Helen Salmon, principal of Tavistock College said: 'We think it is important to motivate students so they do as well as they possibly can during their time at school.
'By showing them the types of opportunities available we aim to inspire them to work as hard as they can. We are very thankful to Cambridge University for giving Tavistock College students such a fabulous opportunity and experience.'
The Tavistock College students were encouraged to see as much of university life as possible, this included punting down the River Cam to see the famous colleges and bridges.
Students were asked to blog about their day and feedback will be posted on the school website later this month.
