BRENTOR'S only pub has a new landlady — local girl Julie Fisher, who was born and brought up in the village.
And Julie, who took over on June 4, wants to see the pub back at the traditional centre of village life.
'It's been great, I didn't think we'd do anything for the first month, it's been a lot busier than I imagined,' she said.
'The place really needed somebody local. All the locals are coming back and everybody has been so helpful, getting it cleaned up and sorted out — my Mum has been an absolute treasure!'
Julie said some evenings she has felt a distinct sense of deja vu, as people who used to use the Brentor Inn regularly 10 years ago begin to come back.
Julie has lots of plans for the pub — including more provision for children and eventually running bed and breakfast.
'We're incredibly lucky really, we've got pool, skittles, darts, a nice dining room.
'We're hoping pony-trekkers will come back and Brentor cricket team,' said Julie.
Food-lovers will not be disappointed either — Malcolm Morrison, former chef at The Castle at Lydford, will be cooking lunchtime and evening meals at the Brentor Inn.
Julie's husband, Ted, who is a builder, will be undertaking redevelopment work at the pub.
Meanwhile, she has plans to celebrate the eclipse in August and this Saturday afternoon is hosting a charity strawberry tea.
The Brentor Inn made major headlines under its previous owner when he applied for planning permission for a Thai massage parlour on the premises.
