TAVISTOCK College’s Year 13 students are a ‘credit to the college’ according the the principal, after achieving another year of top results in the A-level exams.
The sixth form students performed ‘exceptionally well’ overall with many successes in both academic and vocational courses. Many students met or exceeded their offers from their chosen universities across the UK. These include top Russell Group universities.
The college gained a ‘pleasing’ number of A* and A grades across a range of subjects.
Some of the top performing A-level students this year were Rebecca Phelpstead — biology A*, chemistry A* and mathematics A*; Thomas Roberts — art A*, geography A, history A; Samuel Bates — business studies A, geography A, mathematics A, EPQ B and Amber Turner — music distinction*, CTEC performance studies distinction, history A.
Head boy at the college Archie Allen described the experience as ‘scary but exciting’ for what laid ahead and Ben Bowen, who is going to Cardiff University to study Japanese, said he was thankful for all the help from his teachers.
Sarah Jones, principal, said: ‘The grades gained this year are a reflection of the hard work and commitment shown by the students. I am immensely proud of them all. It was not an easy journey for some, but the results speak for themselves. Year 13 were a credit to their college and the teachers are delighted with the outcomes from such a wonderful group of students. We all wish our students the best of luck for a successful future in whatever they choose to do.’
