TWO of Calstock's youngest residents 'tied the knot' at St Andrew's Church last Wednesday in front of family and friends. Georgie Borrett and Josh Davies played the bride and bridegroom as part of a personal, social and emotional development programme by Calstock Primary School. Teacher Alison Nettleship said it gave the children a chance to find out about real life experiences. Five year olds Georgie and Josh were attended by bridesmaids Ellie and Alice and best man Finley Taylor. The school's class 1 re-enacted a typical wedding day with a proper wedding dress, top hat and tails, a cake, the car and flowers. A young vicar 'married' the couple with assistance from the school vicar Bob Monroe, and the children then recited their own wedding vows and performed their own speeches. Mrs Nettleship said: 'It was a wonderful day. All the children have contributed to this wedding and they have taken it all very seriously. 'It was a real team effort and it has showed what we can achieve with our children if the community and a school worked together effectively. 'We are very lucky in Calstock to have such supportive parents, governors and members of the community which has made this wonderful day possible.' Headteacher Jo Shelton said: 'This has illustrated our commitment to enriching the curriculum for all of our children, and I am sure that we will remember this day for a long time.' Mrs Nettleship expressed thanks to all who helped make the day a success and to Ray Davies, the chair of governors, who was the official photographer.
