ALMOST £1,000 was raised for cancer research as Okehampton took part in the World?s Biggest Coffee Morning. Mrs Joyce Brockman (left) from Okehampton has thanked everyone who joined in the fun, raising £978 for people affected by cancer. She said: ?It was a great day and everyone really enjoyed themselves. It is amazing that simply enjoying a cup of coffee with friends has helped raise lots of money for such a great cause.? The event was held at Fairplace Church, Okehampton. Judy Beard, director of communications, fundraising and marketing, Macmillan Cancer Support said: ?I would like to say a massive thank you to Joyce and her friends for joining in the World?s Biggest Coffee Morning. Cancer affects us all and simply having a cup of coffee is a great way to help Macmillan be there for more people with cancer.? She said the money raised would go towards providing practical, medical, emotional and financial support to those living with cancer.
