THE hosta collection housed at the Bowden Nursery at Sticklepath has won a coveted gold medal at the world?s most famous garden show. The company has the only hosta stand in the grand pavilion at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show which runs in South West London until Saturday. TIm Penrose took over the business with wife Rose last year from in-laws Ann and Roger Bowden ? they originally launched the nursery which houses the 1,000 variety-strong National Hosta Collection. Tim said: ?We are thrilled because the RHS is a very major organisation and standards are very high. The three days scurrying around on the ground, building the stand have been worth it.? The Bowdens used the show to launch Purbeck Mist and Truscott Marble; both of which are exclusive to the nursery. Chelsea is the company?s second show of the summer, having attended the Malvern Flower Festival earlier this month.
