IT is hoped the drierweather will last until this evening (Thursday) when Andrew?s Corner garden in Belstone opens in aid of the National Gardens Scheme. In a wonderful setting, lit by almost 200 candle lanterns, the garden turns into a fairyland where visitors can wander, glass of wine in hand, among magnificent trees, shrubs, herbaceous plants, organic vegetables and willow structures. Alternatively, they can sit on a bench and enjoy the evening light and the view of the Taw Valley and Cosdon Beacon. The garden also contains a pond, bog garden and traditional breed chickens ? plenty on offer for all the family. Among the charities supported by the NGS are MacMillan Cancer Support and Marie Curie Cancer Care and the money provided over recent years has helped hundreds of people with terminal illness. For £3.50 for adults (children free) you can enjoy the garden and support this worthy cause. The entrance fee includes a glass of wine (or juice) and cheese ? so join Robin and Edwina Hill any time between 7pm and 10pm tonight.
