Gulworthy Primary will be wishing headteacher Peter Mawer a fond farewell when he retires in July after 31 years in the role. Staff at the school say Mr Mawer, who was appointed in 1974, will be sorely missed. Colleague Helen Lane said: ?Everyone at Gulworthy really appreciates Peter?s commitment during his time here both to the school and the local community.? To mark his departure, the school will be holding a leaving party in July and is extending an invitation to old pupils, parents, colleagues and Peter?s friends. Attendees are asked to bring along any photographs or memorabilia from Peter?s time at the school and anyone wishing to donate to Mr Mawer?s leaving present ? a telescope ? is asked to contact Carol Carrier or Helen Lane on 01822 832520. The leaving party takes place on Saturday July 9 between 2pm and 5pm at the school.
