A COUPLE from Gunnislake who started out as neighbours have just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Sheila and Ronald Liddicott lived opposite each other at Crossways in Dimson for many years — and started dating in their 20s.

After their dates they would say goodnight to each other, open their bedroom windows and talk the night away.

This romance continued and they married at Calstock Church on April 3, 1954.

The couple enjoyed many hobbies, including bowls and darts for their local teams — Ronald even ran a junior football team for Gunnislake. They have four children, Denise, Clive, Andrew and Robert, ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Celebrating 60 years of marriage last Thursday, the couple were joined by their children, grandchildren and close friends, at the Tavistock Arms Hotel for a surprise meal. Their family carried on the surprises with a cake, with their wedding photo printed on top, the newspaper from the day of their wedding, and a crystal vase.
