THE lead vocalist of Bootleg Blondie has the looks, the voice and attitude of the original Blondie bombshell, and like her heroine is typically outrageous on stage!
She has been known to wear dustbin liners, thigh high boots and t-shirts with more holes then you care to imagine.
Bootleg Blondie is the official Debbie Harry and Blondie tribute band and the only Blondie tribute to have played the world famous CBGBs in New York City, the 100 Club, the Hammersmith Palais and the Isle Of Wight Festival.
Lead vocalist Debbie Harris is also the niece of Shani Wallis (Nancy in Lionel Bart’s musical film ‘Oliver’).
The show includes all the greatest hits such as Dreaming, Call Me, Heart of Glass, Tide is High, Hanging on the Telephone, Rapture, Atomic, Picture This, Denis and many more!
Debbie says of her decision to move from fan to singer: ‘We always liked to play some Blondie covers in our sets with our originals band Granny Takes A Trip and we even managed to get on the Small Faces tribute album Long Agos and Worlds Apart. People would come up to us after our shows and ask for more Blondie songs so it went from there.’
And Debbie Harry loves the band too and said of tribute Debbie: ‘It’s a dream come true. Debbie has been so sweet ever since she sent us a message wishing us good luck with our show at the famous New York music club CBGB. Every time we see her at the Blondie shows she says hello and has a chat.’
Bootleg Blondie will be at The Wharf on Friday, April 1.
