VISITORS will get to see daffodils at their peak at Cotehele's annual Daffodil Weekend this weekend.

Senior gardener at the National Trust property Aimee Kingdom is urging everyone to come along to this year's show, which includes some varieties that are 200 years old. Visitors will be able to see about 250 different varieties of daffodils in total.

Aimee said: 'Many people don't know that in addition to traditional yellow blossoms, some daffodils are peach and white, and some have trumpets that are flat with a bit of ruffle.

'Similarly, some don't have a scent and others have a fragrance you'll be able to pick up from right across the courtyard.'

A garden tour highlighting the different varieties of daffodils will take place on both Saturday and Sunday at 1pm. There will also be children's activities in the old orchard.

In addition, two Cornish daffodil experts, Fentongollan Farm bulb specialists from Truro and breeder Ron Scamp from Falmouth, will display daffodils in a marquee in front of Cotehele House.

The Tamar Valley AONB will be talking to visitors and recruiting volunteers for a local hedge survey project planned in April.

They will be providing training in both survey methods and species recognition.

The gardens are open between 11am and 4pm.
