A COUPLE from Tavistock celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary last Saturday with family and friends at The Bedford Hotel.
Beryl and Ivor Watson, who married 60 years ago at St Peter's Church in Lamerton, celebrated in style and enjoyed a three course lunch with 45 friends and family to mark the occasion.
Beryl, 79, and Ivor, 87, have six children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild who were all in attendance — with one son coming all the way from Canada!
Beryl, a former nurse at Tavistock Hospital, Blackdown Nursing Home, Chollacott Nursing Home and Crelake Nursing Home, said the day was made extra special by all who celebrated with her and Ivor.
She said: 'We had a marvellous day, and friends that I used to nurse with, one who is 91 and another 78, were also there. It was nice that we were all together. Even our neighbours were there — we had about 45 in total come to the meal.
'It was a really nice day, I thoroughly enjoyed it — it is something to look back on with happy memories.'
