LEWDOWN maintained their 100% winning home record with a comfortable 68 run win over Woodland Fort.
Fort won the toss and asked Lewdown to bat on what looked at cracking pitch, quick outfield and perfect batting conditions. Olly Brown maintained his good form with 48, including his first ever 6. Fifteen-year-old Dave Ball hit a fine 50, and also in the runs again was Charlie Hughes with 44 and Jack Skuse 40.
The total of 239 for 6 seemed a par score on an excellent track, but Lewdown, with their fine bowling attack, always fancied bowling out Fort. Angus Murray made the initial breakthrough, thanks to a fine catch from Dean Summersby in the second over.
Fort then proceeded to take the game to Lewdown, scoring freely at more than 6 an over. It took an excellent run out from Ade Edmonds to dismiss the Fort captain and danger man, to change the game.
The introduction of Edmonds turned out to be the decoding factor in the match, as he again bowled with aggression and discipline in taking 4 wickets.
The match was at times volatile, with Fort living up to their reputation as aggressive cricketers. Lewdown handled themselves well, and did their talking with bat and ball, deservedly running out comprehensive victors, in the process picking up the maximum 20 points.
Lewdown have now moved up to fifth place in their division, just one point behind Roborough in fourth.
Next game, away to Kenn, Saturday.
