CINDERELLA will go to the ball — in Hatherleigh, as the Hatherleigh Players prepare for their pantomime.

Written by Ben Crocker with a 'surprise section' written by one of the Hatherleigh Players Louise Bater, the amateur dramatic group's take on the classic fairytale of Cinderella promises a fun evening of entertainment for everyone in the audience. It is full of great songs, including I'm a Believer, the Beatles' All You Need is Love, and the Players' own version of the Timewarp.

Cindy Squire is directing the pantomime for the very first time.

She said: 'I really wanted to tell a great traditional tale, but to add something new too — hence the surprise scene during the panto.

'We are very lucky this year to have a mini band.

'Even one of the ugly sisters and other characters play along with some of the tunes.'

The pantomime runs at Hatherleigh Community Centre at 7.30pm from Thursday, February 20 to Saturday, February 22, with an additional 2pm matinee performance on February 22.

Anyone peckish during a performance can enjoy some special 'Cinder's Treat' sweets and tasty local ice cream as well as other refreshments.
