AN EXTENSIVE collection of images of Dartmoor in days gone by is available to view thanks to Dartmoor National Park Authority and Dartmoor Archive.

Visitors can now explore more than 100 years of Dartmoor's history at the national park authority's High Moorland Visitor Centre in Princetown.

The Dartmoor Archive has built on the success of its website and worked with the national park authority to create a new interactive tool that allows people to view thousands of photographs, some of which date back to the late 1800s.

The Dartmoor Archive is now live and available for anyone to enjoy alongside the dozens of other exhibits at the centre.

Jamie Dunbar, Dartmoor Archive manager, said: 'I am so excited that the Dartmoor Archive has got a permanent home at the High Moorland Visitor Centre.  The Visitor Centre is a great resource and starting point for people who love Dartmoor and we are proud to be a part of it.'

The High Moorland Visitor Centre is open daily from 10.30am to 3.30pm. The centre will be closed over the festive period on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
