WITH reference to your front page article (June 10) re parking in Tavistock. It was almost sad to hear the pathetic excuses put forward for the price rise. One wonders what they will do the next time they have a shortfall, hit the motorists and thereby the town and its traders yet again?

Tavistock is now one of the most expensive towns in which to park, even more in some cases than Plymouth. It is noticeable that they did not even bother to set the meters to enable parking for half an hour as in Okehampton, as they are the same machines. Perhaps Mr Inman would care to explain why ? a captive market perhaps?

Whatever the reason it is quite clear that the council is not prepared to listen to the views of the people it is supposed to represent.
