TEN fire crews are believed to fighting a huge moorland fire near Tavistock which is more than three miles wide.
Fire crews received reports of the blaze just after 6pm.
The fire is understood to be in the area of Tavy Cleave. Fire crews and a water bowser attended a rendezvous point at the old Tate and Lyle Factory before finding the exact location of the fire which was in a remote location, reports said.
Numerous people reported seeing flames in the area as far away as Gunnislake and Plymouth and images on social media showed a large section of moorland on fire.One onlooker said the fire appeared to be running along the roadway which runs up to the Willsworthy firing range.
