SIGN thefts, shoplifting and vandalism on a car feature in this week’s police desk.

Last week a sign was stolen from the Knightstone Restaurant (also known as the tea rooms) on the old airfield at Yelverton.

This week another shop sign was also taken. This time it was fairly large, made from old pallets and camefrom a nearby shop at Leg O’Mutton.

The sign was later found in the marina at Devonport in Plymouth, so police believe either the thieves were local and travelled to Plymouth, or they have come from Plymouth and returned there later. Either way, local people are being asked to keep a lookout for anyone interfering with signs locally.

The latest theft took place overnight on Tuesday, January 31 and Wednesday, February 1, just over a week after the sign was stolen from Knightstone.

Anyone with information relating to this incident is asked to contact police on 101, quoting crime reference number CR/8992/17.

Police are to examine CCTV footage of two women thought to have stolen some clothes from Fat Face in Tavistock on Sunday, February 5.

The two women took a number of items of clothing into the changing rooms but only brought one out.

By the time staff checked the changing room, they had left the shop and made off, so staff have downloaded their pictures and police will be viewing the images. CR/8913/17.

A car had a boulder thrown into its windscreen in Broad Park Road, Bere Alston, recently.

The incident happened after 11.15pm on Friday, February 3 and was discovered the next morning.

The owner had not been out that night or been in any sort of argument or disagreement with anyone, so police said it seemed likely that this was someone who had been drinking and was on their way home.

If you have your suspicions about anyone who was very drunk or otherwise behaving badly in Bere Alston that night, contact Tavistock Police on 101, quoting CR/8363/17.

A Princetown resident was woken just before 3am on the morning of Thursday, February 2 by noises of a barking dog. The next morning they found that someone had attempted to force entry into their car parked on Plymouth Hill, causing damage to the frame around the door window.

Police said it did not appear that entry to the car was gained and nothing was stolen, but local people are asked to be alert for a thief in the village. CR/8260/17.
