POLICE have arrested two people after discovering a £30,000 cache of heroin at a property in Tavistock, officers confirmed today.

Neighbourhood beat officers backed up by the Devon Protect and Detect team swooped on the property on Saturday and recovered blocks of the Class A drug along with some stolen items, a police spokesman said.

The heroin, which has yet to be fully analysed, was described as ‘a significant amount’ by officers and is believed to be among the biggest-ever hauls of drugs uncovered by police in Tavistock.

The two people, who are not at this stage being named, were taken to Charles Cross police station in Plymouth for questioning and were later released on bail pending further inquiries.

Police said the raid followed work with Tavistock’s community and urged anyone with information about this incident or any other drugs related matters to contact them via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, on 101, or via the Devon and Cornwall police website.
