OKEHAMPTON police have issued a well done to local residents for listening to government advice and staying indoors.
Sgt Nathan Walker, neighbourhood team leader for West Devon policing team, said he understood it was a difficult time for everyone but thanked them for staying at home.
‘I am pleased to say that people are being responsible and listening to the advice. West Devon officers are carrying out regular patrols across the whole patch and reports are encouraging. The advice is very clear and people are helping the NHS and saving lives by staying at home.
‘We have had some reports from the public and patrols have been increased in the areas reported. We will always aim to engage, explain and encourage people to comply with the restrictions but we will fine people if needed.
‘I am always very keen to celebrate the great work members of our community do to support each other and as the local West Devon police we will always work to be part of this support network. I would like to say thank you to everyone for working together and staying at home at this difficult time.’
