A LARGE quantity of fuel was stolen from two HGVs whilst parked on Hatherleigh Industrial Estate, Holsworthy Road, Hatherleigh. This occurred in the early hours of Saturday, September 30. If anybody heard or saw anything suspicious at the time please email or call 101 quoting CR/085067/17.

BETWEEN 5pm on Friday, September 29 and 9.30am the following day the Okehampton Recycling Centre was broken into and a quantity of car batteries and a copper tank were stolen. CR/084297/17.

AN honesty box located on Holsworthy Road, Hatherleigh, had eggs and condiments stolen along with money from the honesty tin between 7pm on Saturday, September 30 and 9am the following day. If anybody heard or saw anything suspicious at the time email or call 101 quoting CR/084751/17.

ON Thursday, September 28 a barn in the Stonelands area of Crockernwell was entered and a Stihl chainsaw and hedge trimmer were stolen. CR/085099/17.

POLICE were called to a busy dual carriageway on Saturday, October 7 to a report of a vehicle travelling in the wrong direction on the A30 from Sourton towards Exeter.

At 1.22am, officers located the vehicle and shadowed it for several miles in order to get the elderly driver to stop. At this time the driver was in lane two of the A30 heading towards Exeter on the westbound carriageway.

Eventually the vehicle was stopped and officers secured the driver and removed him and the vehicle to safety.

A spokesperson for the police said: ‘The driver was 82 years old and very confused having left his home address at 7pm the evening before for a drive before getting confused and lost.’

Police are continuing enquiries relating to the man’s suitability to continue to drive.
