FIRE crews were called to reports of an electrical fire at Meavy Primary School on Friday, March 31.
Crews from Crownhill, Greenbank and Yelverton attended the school at around 11.30am where they found a small electrical fire in the main Western Power fuse that had been extinguished by the school staff.
Crews isolated all the electrics in the building to reduce the load going through the fuse and asked for Western Power to attend. Twenty minutes later Western Power arrived and isolated the supply.
A spokesperson for the Yelverton crew said: ‘It was a relief to find the school evacuated when we arrived with all the children in the school field. Their reward for good behaviour was a shortened day as the power supply couldn’t be reconnected.’
