OKEHAMPTON Golf Club played its first medal of 2001 on Saturday.

The weather in the main was fine and 84 competitors enjoyed the course, which was in superb condition for the time of year.

The greens had been hand-mown which obviously helped as the scores were very good in all three divisions.

Results: — Division 1: 1, John Mansell, gross 66, net 61; 2, Mark Crouch, gross 70, net 61; 3, Kevin Pedrick, gross 68, net 62.

Division 2: 1, Alan Vernon, net 65; 2, Chris Pike net 65; 3, Alan Deakin net 66.

Division 3: 1 Max Mooney, net 55; 2, Jim Parker, net 63; 3, Jason Barnes net 64.

This Saturday's competition is the Wilson Team Trophy which is a three-ball stableford with two scores to count.
