OKEHAMPTON Cycle Club members took part in last Sunday?s 25-mile time trial hosted by North Devon Wheelers on the A377 road course starting from Kings Nympton Station to Bishops Tawton and back.

In dry conditions but with a strong headwind a field of 47 cyclists took part in the event and despite some poor road surfaces club members met with success by taking two prizes. Tony Johnston was third in the veteran 60 plus category with Jackie Rice picking up a prize for being the fastest lady. Steve Sage finished fifth overall, breaking the hour with 59.21.

The Okehampton Cycle Club summer time trial series continued last Thursday evening with an excellent turnout of eleven competitors taking part in a ride against the clock from Mole Avon to Whiddon Down and back on the old A30 road.

Andy Retter again achieved the best time of the night, clocking 28.25. Mike Rice came second with 32.07 and Jackie Rice was third with 32.2.26.

Results: A Retter 28.25, M Rice 32.07, Jackie Rice 32.26, N Williams 33.51, B Sharpe 34.39, D Baskerville 35.41, S Quigly 36.38, P Davies 37.05, Louise Amery 37.14, Sam Clifford 40.53, B Stevens DNF.
