IT is said the sun always shines on the righteous — it is certainly true for the Tidy Tavi volunteers who have always been lucky with the weather for their monthly litter picks.
Another good turnout saw 34 volunteers, all dressed in their tabards, armed with their litter pickers and ready for action.
Within two hours 45 bags of rubbish were collected, including two colourful umbrella, a road sign, traffic cone and pieces of wood.
The volunteers remarked that there is less litter now within the town centre, although there are still pockets that attract litter. One of these areas is by the Post Office, the recess area to the left of the shop.
There is no waste bin in this area and the group feels that if there was one located in the vicinity, it could resolve the problem.
Seven volunteers from Volunteering Devon joined the Tidy Tavi team for the Make a Difference Day.
Thanks were expressed to all the volunteers who give up their time each month, to Phil Jarman a local businessman who is invaluable to the team, transporting all the heavy full bags of litter to the pick-up point, where the council collects it, and to the Wharf for allowing use of their car point as a meeting place.
If you would like to join the Tidy Tavi team, volunteers meet on the first Saturday of each month at the Wharf car park at 9.50am.
