BERE Ferrers Social Club held their annual snooker tournament recently — 32 players from the Bere peninsular took part in the event with matches being played over three weeks.

Derek Hicks and Shaun Maloney played well and managed to reach the semi-final stage with 15-year-old Shaun also taking the prize for the highest break.

Most entertaining match went to Trevor Grinstead and Russel Lashbrook for their unique style of play and sense of humour!

The tournament ended in a final match between Ed Hannon and Mark Chubb. Despite a brave fight from Ed, who had been on good form throughout the three weeks, Mark again played an excellent game and took the first prize for the second year running.

Organiser Louis Ormston thanked all the players for taking part in the tournament, Bere Ferrers Social Club for hosting it and the Countryman's Weekly for supplying the trophy.
