THIS year's vintage sale at Dingles, near Lifton, attracted more than 450 potential purchasers from across England and Wales.
On display outside the venue were 194 lots of machinery, being auctioned by John Wakeham and James Morrish.
One of the top calls of the day was £5,000 for a David Brown 2D 1957. Other leading prices included a McCormick BWD6 International tractor 1951, selling for £1,900, and £1,250 was achieved for a 1950s Marshall Dozer. A highlight of the sale was a selection of jerry cans reaching £410.
The pick of some 30 lots of granite came in from Cornwall and topped £600 for a 6ft trough, while a Victorian cast iron horse stabling sold for £360.
Inside the venue were 696 lots of equipment, being auctioned by Mark Bromell and Patrick Dennis. A mammoth entry of smaller goods saw the auctioneers having to be at their best to keep up with the bidding from a large crowd of buyers, resulting in a top call for £950 for a 2ins scale Ransomes Trashing Machine. A Box Ford Lathe with a gearbox reached £450, and a host of other goods sold for between £200 and £350.
The sale also boasted 152 lots of books and photographs, being auctioned by James Morrish. The pick of the sale was an album of historic fairground photos from south east Cornwall reaching £180. A selection of original works photos topped at £80. Kitson and John Fowler early drawings reached £45 and plenty of steam photos sold for between £35 to £45.
A collection of books and workshop equipment, the property of the late Brian Barras, was well received with the proceeds going to his chapel in Peter Tavy.
Kivells auctioneer John Wakeham said: 'It was a delight as always to see so many at Lifton. It was great to sell the very special 1957 David Brown at £5,000 but superb to sell a traditional Shepherd's Hut at £5,350 with it going to a new home at Redruth.'
