THE first men?s medal of the year at Okehampton Golf Club was greeted by a seasonal mixture of sunshine, hail, rain, and wind.

But this did nothing to deter the 112 competitors, with some excellent scores throughout the divisions.

Division 1 saw the lowest scoring. John Gillard?s excellent net 60 was just enough to edge out Richard Johnson?s 61, a score which is usually good enough to win.

Harry Butters was a clearer winner in division 2 where Dennis Jenkins managed to grab third place from five other scores of net 67 with an excellent back 9.

Division 3 was very tight with Pete Grimley?s net 62 just enough to beat three players with net 63. Pete went home a happy man as he also bagged a couple of 2s.

Division 1 (47 players) ? 1 J Gillard 71(60), 2 R Johnson 74(61), 3 P Murphy 74(63).

Division 2 (34 players) ? 1 H Butters 79(63), 2 P Atherton 81(66), 3 D Jenkins 85(67) last 9.

Division 3 (31 players) ? P Grimley 85(62), 2 R Webb 87(63) last 9 , 3 B Kelly 83(63) last 9.
