Devon seconds E West Whitchurch seconds v Ipplepen thirds THE seconds entertained promotion chasing Ipplepen thirds and it was soon evident why the visitors have been the team to beat. Batting first Ipplepen got off to a flyer as Crocker and Dyer added 66 for the first wicket in 12 overs, before Dyer was caught one handed by Ben Hodge running backwards. Crocker was then joined by Bell and the scoreboard kept racing along. Bell was finally bowled by a grubber from Webber. Alsop made 41 as he added with 80 with Crocker, who completed a deserved century. Ipplepen looked set for a mammoth score, but Tamblin (2-51) and Poole (3-47) bowled tidily. The visitors' declaration came after 40 overs with the score on 270-8. Two fine runouts contributed a bowling point for Whitchurch.  Crocker carried his bat for 140 not out. The wheels came off quickly in the Whitchurch reply. In no time they were 20-4 – Borlase with 3-17. Bob Powell anchored the innings as batsmen came and went. With Dunne 35 were added and with Poole (20), 36 were added, ensuring the first batting point. Powell completed his half century and added 31 with Emma Jackman. With the fall of eighth wicket, Powell decided to chase more batting points and was bowled by Hay (3-16) for 76. One ball later the game was up, Whitchurch 157 all out as Ipplepen won by 117 runs.
