aWEST Devon D secured ‘top spot’ in the lower half of the Tavistock Snooker League, after beating challengers West Devon B in a 3-2 win.

All the hard work was done in the first three frames with Shrimpton (junior), Ward, and Murton seeing off any lingering challenge from Conservative B.

The pick of the bunch in these three wins was a first ever league win for Simon Ward who battled it out to a satisfactory conclusion against Con B skipper Gilchrist.

Murton and Shrimpton had comfortable rides over the line against John Rich and Roger Rich.

Con B team did have a ‘bit of a go’ in the last two frames with Horrell out grinding May, followed by a comprehensive win for Hoar against out of sorts Decieco.

The final league games for Conservative A against Conservative C seemed a bit of an anti-climax with Con A having already secured top spot, and Con C having already secured bottom place.

Dodd for Con C team brought a personal decent season to a close fighting off a superb late rally from Bell to edge him out on the black ball.

Folley finished his season off unbeaten, all be it in five games, with a grafted win over Jago (senior) who’s tenacity made a mockery of his lowly ranking.

Jago (junior) for Con C Team made one of the league’s ‘big guns’ sweat, taking Babb right to the wire before Babb edged home by a mere four points. Another one of the league’s top players, Tom Evans, had to dig deep to overcome a stout performance from Con C teams Davies, who pressured Evans right up to the final balls.

A 30 break from Con A team’s Carruthers was enough to see off the challenge from Weldon as Carruthers finished his season of unbeaten with several breaks and the season’s joint highest break.
