CONSERVATIVE A stretched their lead at the top of the Tavistock Snooker league with a hard fought 3-2 win in their top of the table clash against second place Conservative B.

The A team took a two frame lead courtesy of Bell taking some good late pots in a close encounter with Lillicrap; as did Evans (senior) to stretch his lead over the tenacious Dolan.

The B team responded in positive style with McKechnie fighting off a late rally from Lacey to snatch the win with a cool pressure black. This was backed up by Evans (junior) producing a flawless frame to give the A team's Cook no chance including a well taken 26 break. With the game all square it was Carruthers who stole it for the Con A as he 'rode out' some serious pressure from Monk who pushed him all the way to the pink ball. So it went 3-2 to Con A but could easily gone the other way.

Jankowski got Conservative Z off to a flying start against West Devon B's Colin Horrell in a game that was a real nail biter to the end as the former surpassed his own high standards in an entertaining frame.

It took substitute captain John Rich for West Devon to even things up with a display of classic potting, despite a few 'in offs', against Cath Friend, walking away with a well deserved victory. Con Z's Derek Flack performed valiantly against Smith, but was finally out manoeuvred to give West Devon the frame.

Con Z's captain Brian Palmer faced his old adversary Roger Rich in a closely contested match, until the later stages, when Palmer could only stand on the sidelines while Rich cleaned up the colours to take the frame and the game for WD. Con Z's Hall took charge of the table against George Toland and won admirably in the fastest frame of the night to reduce the deficit.
