Whitchurch seconds v Cornwood fourths

THIS was a game decided by one man. Beaumont was playing his first match for six years, having previously played Premier division cricket.

His class showed as he despatched the Whitchurch bowling all around the park.

Tamblin got the first breakthrough having Mathews well stumped for six by Tom Jackman with the score on 86.

Beaumont completed his century and continued to be the only run scorer. When he was bowled by a slow Tamblin delivery for 116, the total was only 136.

Whitchurch fought back and there two wickets apiece for Poole and Hodge.

A late 33 from Caulfield helped Cornwood post 254-7, although a far higher score had seemed likely.

Whitchurch's reply stuttered from the off. Dunne and Hodge saw off the opening bowlers but perished trying to up the scoring rate.

Only Tom Jackman batted with any gusto, making 31. When he went the tail soon followed, as Mathews (3-23), O'Hea (2-30) and Beaumont (2-19) wrapped up a 141 run win.
