EIGHT members of Okehampton Running Club took part in the Ivybridge Three Tops race on Saturday, August 15.

This race, organised by Erme Valley Harriers, is part of the Dartmoor Fell Series.

It was a superb evening for racing, as it was a bit cooler than it has been of late. The senior route went deep onto the moor, with a brisk start up Western Beacon and finishing with a very fast descent to the finish at the rugby club.

Luke Stannus had a very good race finishing in fifth place in a time of 50:38 – first in his age category.

Joe Lane was the next ORC in 57:20, followed by Rob Gooding in 58:07 – third in his category, Ian Duffied 58:33, Emma Brock 1:05:54, Izzy Davison 1:14:21 running in with Deane Andrew in 1:14:22 and Garry Sprague 1:30:09.

In the junior race, Ruari Duffield finished in fifth place in a time of 16:17.

The next race in the Fell series is the Great Links Tor Flyer on Wednesday, August 19 – a spectacular route with 4.5miles of fantastic running and breathtaking views starting from the Fox and Hounds at Bridestowe.

Several ORCs did a recce of the route last Wednesday to get a good viewing point for the eclipse. They had a great sociable run, saw the eclipse, and ran back down finishing with a well-earned drink at the pub!

Saturday saw Okehampton Running Club representatives heading far and wide to take part in Parkruns up and down the country.

Carole was in Wales for the Y Promenad Parkrun at Brecon, Ross was in Scotland and for the second week running took part in the Dunoon Parkrun and was two minutes faster than last week.

Whilst in Devon, Keeley got a new PB at Exmouth and Sophie did a sub 20min time at Simmons Park. Well done everyone.
