OKEHAMPTON Squash first team enjoyed a fine victory away to a normally difficult Newton Abbot 4 opponent to continue their fine run of form in the Devon Mixed League 3.

Shawn Jones filling in at string 5, after winning a mammoth first game 20-18, then went on to win 3-0. Dan Yeoman at string 4 went 1-0 up, but eventually lost 1-3 after his opponent started using the drop shot effectively. Justin Gliddon at string 3 lost 1-3 against a seasoned opponent but at string 2 Phil Allin won another 3-2 marathon. Phil’s superior hitting and fitness coming through at the end. 

Phil Kemsley at string 1 won completed the victory by winning 3-1 playing a good attacking game and good length of shot. 

So a 3-2 win and a 16-9 point victory for Okehampton, made it the third win in a row for the team.

Okehampton Squash second team in Devon Mixed League 4 received a walkover when their opponent — Exeter Golf and Country — who failed to raise a side. This gave Okehampton seconds much needed points.
