South West Peninsula division one east Sidmouth Town 2 Tavistock AFC 3 THE Lambs continued their fine unbeaten away form with another well earned victory against a strong Sidmouth team. The home side started brightly and a fine cross by Cox found O'Donoghue but his shot went high over the bar. The Lambs almost scored in the tenth minute when Kelvin Fyneboy beat two defenders — his cross found Jarydd Kelly in a good position but his attempt to place a shot into the top corner was easily saved by Ledger in the home goal. Two minutes later on a counter-attack Pavey made a fine run down the left flank, cutting inside into the penalty area and fired past Andy Meeds to give the home team the lead against the run of play. Four minutes later Meeds was called into action again and made a fine save from Finch. Back came the Lambs and Luke Doddridge hit a shot from 20 yards which the goalkeeper could only parry, but there was no one following in to put the finishing touch. The Lambs equalised in the 25th minute when Fyneboy produced some fine dribbling skills to beat two defenders and smash the ball home from 15 yards. Both teams continued to probe for openings but both defences looked strong. The visitors were unlucky not to go in front in the 39th minute when from a Dave Hallett corner kick, Lewis Daw had a great header cleared off the goal line by the home defence. The Lambs got off to a fast start in the second half when Fyneboy caused another problem to the home defence and his cross into the six yard box saw Maskell's effort scramble clear. In the 62nd minute the home side took the lead when the visitors lost the ball on the half way line. Ashley Small went on a solo run, as a covering defender was coming across to make a tackle he hit a sublime shot into the top corner of the net, giving Andy Meeds no chance of saving. The Lambs were back on terms in the 70th minute when a fine move from the back through midfield found Josh Robins supporting the front line and he made no mistake when he hit a tremendous shot from 22 yards low into the corner of the net. It was the impressive Kevin Kendall that produced a fine cross which saw Ledger never in control of the ball and Fyneboy pounced to punish him with a close range finish to give the Lambs a deserved lead. In the 82nd minute play was halted when a serious back injury to Ollie Archer required professional medical attention, as the player could not be moved. The delay was 45 minutes by the time the ambulance arrived, and necessary treatment administered, before the player was taken to hospital. The Lambs saw out the remaining eight minute plus stoppage time to secure a victory. Manager Kevin Hendy said he was pleased to return home with all three points from a very determined Sidmouth Town. He said:?'I thought generally we were always on top and created numerous opportunities, but Sidmouth shocked us by taking the lead twice, with probably their only two shots on goal in the match. I must give massive credit to the players for twice coming from behind and showing great character to do this. The game and victory was marred by a nasty injury to Ollie Archer. Credit to the lads for digging in deep when the game restarted to complete the ninety minutes, and deservedly come away with the 3-2 victory.' The news on Ollie Archer was that thankfully he sustained a muscular, rather than a spinal injury. He has torn muscle ligaments and tendons in his back and will be out of action for a long time. He returned home on Sunday evening. The club wishes him a speedy recovery.
