THE Hurdwick Golf Club 100 competition (36 hole medal) was played over the weekend of June 6 and 7, with 18 holes on the Saturday and 18 more the next day.
Good scores were achieved on both days by many players predominantly due to the fine weather conditions and the ever improving golf course.
The pristine fairways and playable, but tricky lush rough ensured the golf played was again enjoyable and contested in the usual Hurdwick good friendly spirit!
The outright winner was Steve Ryder (handicap 19) with a nett of 65 and nett 64 on Saturday and Sunday respectively. The valiant Mark Gardiner (handicap 5) was level with Steve on Saturday but just missed out on Sunday with a nett 68.
Hurdwick's attitude to maintaining genuine handicapping ensured the chasing pack from the high competition attendance were all in with realistic chances of catching the two leaders.
