A TAVISTOCK team gained fourth place during the Devon Men Veteran Golfers' Association (DMVGA) last weekend.

The Western Morning News Inter-club Challenge Trophy was held at Tavistock Golf Club in ideal weather conditions. The course was playing a little easier than usual, giving many of the 57 'three man' teams from 23 Devon clubs some high scores.

The winning team was Wrangaton Golf Club (1) with 116 points — Robin Davies 39, Geoff Reese 35, Paul Manning 42; 2, Woodbury Golf Club (2) with 111 points — William Mason 36, Terry Welsh 34, Robert Dart 41; 3, Libbaton Golf Club (1) with 110 points — Derek Mott 37, Jim Wilsmore 38, Jim Spreadborough 35; 4, Tavistock Golf Club (1) with 109 points — Peter Anglis 31, Chris Henderson 41, Paul Congo 37.

The 'President's Putter' for the best individual score was awarded to Ian Hemmings of Holsworthy with an excellent score of 44 stableford points.

The Emerton-Court update: The Devon county senior golfers knock-out competition 2015 has come to the quarter finals to be played by August 9. The remaining teams are: Tiverton v Okehampton, Royal North Devon v Yelverton, Elfordleigh v Libbaton and Stover v Thurlestone.
